The State Government has recently given its approval on the social impact assessment (SIA) report that includes the details of the land identified for the development of Jewar Airport. The decision has been taken after a meeting that took place between UP chief secretary Anup Chandra Pandey, members of Noida International Airport Limited, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) India and other UP government officials.
During the meeting, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) India, the consultant of the project also gave a presentation about the concession agreement draft to the chief secretary. Giving information on the meeting, a senior official from UP Govt said that we will first approve the SIA report in the cabinet, then issue a notification to make way for land acquisition.
The official further added, “As per the suggestions by the government, PwC India and officials of the central government’s planning department will study concession agreement modalities. We have directed the officials to revise the concession agreement in next 10-15 days and hopefully get approvals for selecting a developer for the project, once done with the concession agreement.”
The state has also given its approval for Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL) in the meeting, which will supervise work involved in the development of Jewar Airport. Till now, YEIDA is the nodal authority for the proposed Airport. The Govt will soon issue a notification in this regard.
Talking about the NIAL, all the three authorities i.e. YEIDA, the Noida authority, as well as the Greater Noida authority, will have their stake in NIAL. The UP chief secretary will be chairperson of the NIAL and the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) senior official will be the chief executive officer. Apart from them, the committee will also include CEOs of Noida, Greater Noida, and director of the civil aviation department of the Uttar Pradesh government, the finance secretary of the Uttar Pradesh government, and the secretary, industries department of the Uttar Pradesh government.
