A day before, the Union Government approved another bunch of more than 2.5 lakh affordable houses across 10 states under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban).
As per the data of the Housing and Urban Affairs Ministry, the total number of homes under the PMAY Scheme is close to 84 lakh across the country till now.
More PMAY homes were sanctioned in the meeting of central sanctioning and monitoring committee (CSMC) that was presided over by Durga Shanker Mishra, Ministry Secretary.
Mishra also tweeted, “the flagship urban missions, particularly PM Awas Yojana-Urban, are #TransformingUrbanLandscape at an unprecedented pace. In the CSMC Meeting held today we sanctioned over 2.5 lakh more houses in 10 States. Out of these, UP with 13 lakhs houses is the biggest beneficiary State followed by Andhra Pradesh at 12+ lakhs houses sanctioned.”
He also said that, out of 84 lakh houses sanctioned so far, Uttar Pradesh is the biggest beneficiary state in the country with 13 lakh houses, followed by Andhra Pradesh with over 12 lakh houses.
Secretary was also quoted saying, the total number of houses sanctioned now under this visionary Mission of Hon’ble PM stands at nearly 84 lakhs.
Recently, Hardeep Singh Puri, Union housing and urban affairs said that the target to construct 1 crore dwelling units under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) is likely to be achieved by 2020-end, two years prior to the deadline.
Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Housing and Urban Affairs minister said that we are confident to deliver one crore homes under the PMAY scheme before the set deadline. He also sounded confident about the receival of approving the total number of PMAY homes by the first quarter of next year and the complete construction of the same by the year-end.
Prior to this, PM Narendra Modi tweeted that No stone will be left unturned to fulfill the dream of Housing for All, which will give wings to crores of aspirations.
