In order to facilitate smooth traveling to daily commuters from the northern part of the city to Colaba, the Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) is planning to create a Metro ring around the Mumbai suburban areas. To start with this, coming December 18, PM Narendra Modi will lay the foundation stone of Metro 5 (Thane-Kalyan) and Metro 9 (Dahisar-Mira Bhayander) along with CM Devendra Fadnavis.
While Line 5 of the route will cover Thane-Bhiwandi-Kalyan, Metro-9 will cover Dahisar-Mira-Bhayandar areas.
Line 5 of the Mumbai Metro will be 15900 km long and will have 450 elevated stations. It will connect the eastern suburbs of Mumbai and the major station will include Kapurbawdi in Thane (West), Balkum Naka, Kasheli, Kalher, Purna, Anjur Phata, Dhamankar Naka, Bhiwandi, Gopal Nagar, Temghar, Rajnouli Village, Goregaon MIDC, Kongaon, Durgadi Fort, Sahajanand Chowk, Kalyan Railway Station. The project is expected to be completed by 2022.
Talking about Line 9 of the Mumbai Metro, the route will be 10.41 km long. It will be a fully elevated route and is an extension of Mumbai Metro Line 7 from Dahisar East. The proposed route will cut down the travel distance between the Mira-Bhayandar and Mumbai suburbs by approximately 30 km and is expected to complete by 2022-23.
Impact on Real Estate Market
According to real estate experts, a sound infrastructure always has a positive impact on the adjacent areas especially property market. In the same way, when these two metro lines will be completed, the real estate prices of the surrounding localities will shoot up prominently. For instance, in recent times many developers have launched hi-end projects in Dahisar but due to poor connectivity and infrastructure, homebuyers retain themselves from investing here. But with the arrival of metro, Dahisar, Mira Road, and Bhayander will definitely get the benefit. The rental market will also improve a lot. On the other hand, the residents would also get the convenience to travel to south Mumbai avoiding traffic and usual delays.
