The Jewar airport work will begin soon as Mahesh Sharma, the Union Minister informed that the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is most likely to lay the foundation stone of the Jewar Airport on any day between 23rd and 25th February 2019.
Mahesh Sharma is the Member of Parliament from Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Budh Nagar.
The proposed Jewar airport will be the second international airport in the National Capital Region after Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. The construction of this airport will incur a cost of approximately Rs. 15,000 crores to Rs. 20,000 crores. The airport is likely to be functional by 2022-23.
Mahesh Sharma also said that the construction of multiple elevated road projects is going on and thus it will take merely 45 minutes to reach the Jewar airport from Meerut. He further said that the road connecting Meerut and Jewar airport will be signal free.
At present, the process to acquire 1,300 hectare of land for the construction of the Jewar International Airport is going-on. This process is expected to be closed by February-end.
Earlier this month, Anita Meshram, the divisional commissioner had informed that the authority has forwarded its report to the Uttar Pradesh State Government under Section 19 of Land Acquisition Act. The proceedings for land acquisition had begun after receiving notification on the same by the Yogi Adityanath-led Uttar Pradesh Government.
The authority has received all necessary clearances for the proposed airport and the strategic location of this airport will offer smooth connectivity from the national capital city Delhi, its adjoining states like Haryana and Rajasthan.
