The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has shifted its focus on the illegal construction that is being carried out on small-sized plots that measure upto 1-5 gunthas and are marked under the red zone of the fringe areas like Wadmukhwadi, Bhosari, Moshi and Dighi.

Shravan Hardikar, Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation issued orders to the department of town-planning regarding the same.  In 2016, the urban development department of the Maharashtra State issued a notification and allowed regularization of the unauthorized constructions that took place till December 2015.

Although according to the notification, the unauthorized constructions are not regularized in the buffer zone, red zone, in the blue lines of rivers and also on hill slopes.

In September 2018, Pimpri Chinchwad New Township Development Authority pushed the earlier set deadline for property regularization till February 2019.

Sadashiv Khade, the then newly-elected president of the authority shared the news. The compounding charges will be levied on several illegal constructions in all including the residential, commercial and industrial zones to regularize them. According to an official, the owner of an illegal construction is required to get a stability certificate from a- licensed architect. The source also said that the deadline extension will benefit several residents of Pimpri Chinchwad as they now have more time to regularize their properties.

There are over 30,000 illegal constructions within the limits of Pimpari Chinchwad New Township Development Authority. Apart from regularizing more than 30,000 illegal constructions, the unauthorized constructions being done in the buffer zone, red zone, blue lines of rivers and on hill slopes will not be regularized by the authority.
