Shravan Hardikar, the Municipal Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad gave nod to the revised proposal of 1,288 housing units under PMAY [Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana]. A Contractor is hired for the construction of all these units and Rs. 9.11 lakh will be the construction cost of each unit and the PCTNDA [Pimpri Chinchwad New Town Development Authority] is responsible to build 2,572 housing units and these units will have MS windows and wall care putty. Whereas the residential units to be built by PCMC [Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation] will have aluminum windows, gypsum plaster for the walls as they increase the durability of the structure.
The Pimpri Chinchwad New Town Development Authority [PCTNDA] is responsible to build 11-storied buildings and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation [PCMC] will build 14-storied structures.
Earlier, PCMC has also planned to build more than 560 residential units for the people falling under the Economically Weaker Section at Akurdi under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana [PMAY]. The corporation has also proposed to construct 60,000 affordable homes under the PPP [public-private-partnership] model. This construction will cost Rs. 54 crore to the corporation and the units are likely to be completed in two and a half years’ time and the FSI [Floor Index Ration] for these housing units is sanctioned at 2.5.
These housing units will have an area of 322 Sq.ft. and will be enabled with amenities like solar-power heating system, sewage treatment plant, solid waste management, compound wall and a rainwater harvesting system. An independent agency is also formed to deal issues such as the allotment of aviation no objection certificate (NOC), Maharashtra Pollution Control Board’s consents, groundwater survey and environmental clearance for the building of 60,000 affordable homes.
