The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation [PCMC] has collected a total of rupees 181.68 Crores as property tax in the first quarter starting from April 2018 which ended on June 30th. Nearly, 1.72 lakhs property owners availed discount from the property tax department under several concessions of worth rupees Rs 10.92 crores in comparison to the property tax amount that stood at 187.46 crores for property tax in the same tenure of the last fiscal year i.e. 2016-17. Last year, people nearly availed concessions of worth Rs 10 crores.
It is estimated that approximately, 14,000 more people have benefited from several discounts in the property tax in the first quarter of the current financial year in the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation. Dilip Gawde, joint commissioner and chief of the property tax department stated that many property owners didn’t turn up to submit advance property tax due to some confusion relating to payment of penalty on illegal construction which resulted in the lesser amount of property tax collection.
The property tax in Pimpari Chinchwad Municipal Corporation [PCMC] has been deposited both manual in office and online digital web portal also. Around, a total of 1,72,861 property holders deposited property tax till June 30, which was the last date for availing rebates in the general component of the tax. Out of which, 58 percent of the property tax was paid online and which totals that 94,914 property holders deposited property tax of worth Rs. 104.90 crore online.
According to a PCMC Official, out of total property tax collection, 5,971 women property owners deposited tax of Rs 3.60 crore and availed rebates of Rs 1.2 crore. Whereas, 437 differently abled persons deposited property tax worth Rs 28.20 lakhs and availed concessions of Rs 7.98 lakhs. Apart from these property owners, 1,753 ex-servicemen paid Rs 93.69 lakhs as property tax and availed concession of Rs 29.6 lakhs.
