Going a step forward, the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has mapped nearly 4,500 projects registered with it under the new technology named -Geographical Information System (GIS). Under this system, now customers will find every minute detail of their preferred property just by selecting the option “view on map” on MahaRERA website.

Giving more information about the process, MahaRERA Secretary Vasant Prabhu said, “The chief minister had every time, stressed on the need of GIS mapping, so for instrumental execution of the project, MahaRERA has tied up with MahaOnline.”

He further said that after a year of the implementation of MahaRERA, we have decided to map the projects because it would help the prospective buyers to look at the details of the projects of their interest and nearby amenities. Till now 16,000 projects have been registered under MahaRERA, out of which we have mapped 4500 on our website. Leftover will also be mapped soon.

According to MahaRERA chairman Gautam Chatterjee, we had interacted with many homebuyers in the past; all they want is to have a technology where they can look after the pros and cons of a property easily. With a “view map” feature now available on the official MahaRERA website, the buyers can zoom in and check out the schemes in the areas of their choice as well as the amenities around the residential unit, including hospital, school, and playground, present around them.

Moreover, many prospective homebuyers have already started checking this feature on the website and find it more beneficial than the earlier one i.e. to visit sites physically. According to them, GIS system is more transparent and MahaRERA should soon apply it on all the remaining registered projects.
