MGC i.e. the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram is all set to auction 37 properties on March 16. The Civic body took this decision after the owners of these properties denied to pay house tax for a long more than a year.
The officials said that it has been more than five years that the owners have not paid the outstanding due and tax amount on their name is piled in crores of rupees.
As per the officials, the auction of the respective property will be cancelled by the civic body even if the property owner visits the office of Municipal Corporation of Gurugram to clear the outstanding tax due.
Dinesh Kumar, Zonal Taxation Officer at the MCG informed that under Section 130 of the Haryana Municipal Act 1994 the civic body has sent repeated notices to the owners of these 37 properties. But none of them approached us with the pending bills. Hence we have to auction these properties to recover the over dues.
In these listed properties some are commercial and some are residential assets for which the property tax is not paid since the establishment of Municipal Corporation of Gurugram in 2008.
The MCG sealed these properties on multiple dates in and the civic body also put a seal on 300 properties prior to releasing them as the property owners cleared the outstanding tax amount.
Earlier, in January this year, the procedure to register commercial properties like PGs and Guest houses commenced in Gurugram.
Nearly 20 PGs are registered with the Municipal Corporation of Gurugram under the Haryana Municipal Corporation Act 1994.
