The Maharashtra Housing and Development Authority i.e. MHADAA sanctioned 300 dwelling units to some of the residents in Mahul who are agitating against the forced habilitation in areas near to the chemical factories.

This allotment came a day after Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis started a dialogue and also sought action on the relocation of the project affected persons (PAPs) from Mahul. A week ago, the MHADA authority had promised to deliver nearly 433 unused transit homes in Gorai, Borivali and Dharavi areas of the Mumbai city.

Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar, the MHADA president Uday Samant, MLA Mangesh Kudalkar and BJP state secretary Sanjay Pandey met the protestors at the Azad Maidan. The MHADA President Samant also assured the protestors to hand over the said units.

He was quoted saying that we have approximately 433 unused transit homes and some of them are kept reserved for emergencies. He also said that MHADA wrote to the Brihanmumbai Mumbai Corporation in regards with the transfer of the same units.

The agitators are moving back to their original place in Vidyavihar where they were protesting from nearly two months prior coming to the Azad Maidan. The protestors started to move back soon after getting assurance from Sanjay Pandey, the BJP State Secretary.

The protestors gave BMC a 15-day ultimatum to take action in regard with the same and also warn the authority about intensifying the protest for not taking corrective measures. The residents also said that they are scared of the four-member committee formed in regard with the same.
