After the Supreme Court’s directive to display building plans on the project site, the MahaRERA [Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Act] made it compulsory for all builders in the state to follow the same. The authority circulated an order regarding the same and also said that stringent actions will be taken if the developers fail to abide by the new rule.
The circular clearly states that all developers must display the sanctioned plan, layout plan and other specifications approved by the competent authority at the respective site. The circular further stated, “Failure on the part of the promoters to comply with the provisions of the RERA Act and the rules and regulations made there under, shall be viewed seriously and action will be taken.”
Currently, it is compulsory to submit the approved plans of the developers on the MahaRERA website as any person can easily check the project details.
Shirish Deshpande, Mumbai Grahak Panchayat chairman was quoted saying, “As demanded by us, MahaRERA has instructed developers to display approved building plans on the site as per SC order. Such display will prevent deception of home buyers and false /misleading promises by unscrupulous builders.”
