In a recent development, the Gautam Buddh Nagar administration acquired and transferred another land parcel of 229.5 hectare to the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEDIA) for the proposed Jewar airport, officials informed. A land parcel of 225 and 4.5 hectare was acquired from the Rohi village and Banwaribans respectively. Till now, a total of 433 hectare land has been acquired.
Brajesh Narain Singh, Jewar, District Magistrate said that 1,235 hectare of land has to be acquired for the first phase of the greenfield airport. In this phase, the airport will be spread across 1,334 hectare and is estimated to be completed by 2023, the officials said.
Till now, Rs. 1,925 crore has been disbursed to the farmers against their land acquisition, Abhay Kumar Singh officer in-charge for the project said. He also added that the resettlement and rehabilitation awards have been declared for approximately 5,000 families.
Abhay Kumar said on August 23, the administration will acquire 125 hectare of land from Dayanatpur. As per the district magistrate’s guidelines, the remaining acquisition is expected to be completed by September 10.
This will be a second international airport in the national capital region after Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport also known as IGI. The Jewar airport will be spread across 5,000 hectare and is planned to have 6-8 runways the maximum in India. The officials said that Rs. 15,754 crore is an estimated cost of this construction.
On 30th May, NIAL i.e. the Noida International Airport Limited floated a global tender for managing the project in Gautam Buddh Nagar district. Similarly, the bidding process was floated on 30th May 30 receiving queries were received till 1st July.
The bid will be finalized on 29th November this year and the construction is likely to commence from early 2020 the officials said.
A few days back, the Gautam Budh Nagar administration had acquired approximately 45 hectares of farmland to develop Jewar Airport project, close to the Yamuna Expressway. This land acquisition was made from Parohi village and has been handed over to Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA).
