Manohar Lal Khatter, the Haryana Chief Minister recently directed the officials to speed up the construction work to extend the Metro network in localities falling under the National capital Region [NCR]. The cities that are planned to have extended metro link are Gurugram, Faridabad, Sonipat, Jhajjar and Rohtak.
CM also said that the extension of metro rail is important to decongest the traffic jam and also to offer improved public transport services to the State residents. Continuing further he said that the officials must figure out the possibilities to make metro a feasible project Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali.
Khatter also chaired the review meeting of the Delhi Metro Rail (DMRC) projects in Haryana said that the Haryana Metro Rail Corporation i.e. HMRC should get the controlling power of the metro rail projects that are proposed in the State. In the meeting the metro rail route of 4.86-km corridor between Narela to Kundali that is proposed for extension upto Rajiv Gandhi Education City, the 30.38-km metro track from Gurugram to Faridabad, the 17.10-km corridor between City Park in Bahadurgarh to Sampla, the 23.10-km corridor from Badsa (AIIMS and National Cancer Institute) to Dwarka were reviewed. The authorities also plan an extension of the metro project to 75-80 Kms near future. The metro project currently covers 40-km.
In the meeting of Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority [GMDA], the DPR i.e. the detailed project report for metro connectivity between HUDA City Centre and Cyber City/Rapid Metro got sanctioned. This metro route will have a total stretch of 31.11 km and is likely to have 25 stations and 6 interchanging points.
The estimated construction cost of this metro project is Rs. 5,126 crore and it is expected to be operational from 2023. This metro will have stations like HUDA City Centre, Sector 45, Cyber Park, Sector 46, Sector 47, Sector 48, Technology Park, Udyog Vihar Phase 6, Sector 10, Sector 37, Basai, Sector 9, Sector 7, Sector 4, Sector 5, Ashok Vihar, Sector 3, Krishna Chowk, Palam Vihar Extension, Palam Vihar, Sector 23 A, Sector 22, Udyog Vihar Phase IV and V and Cyber City.
