The National Highways Authority of India also known as NHAI has is looking to connect Phase 1 of the Greater Southern Peripheral Road [GSPR] also known Gurugram- Manesar Expressway with NH -8, MG road and Faridabad road. The proposed agreement has also been submitted to GMDA and the approval for the same is being awaited.
The NHAI’s configuration will be initiated from NH-8 near Dhanchiri Camp, east which shares a boundary wall of Rajokri Air Force station, and then it will turn south to meet Mehrauli Gurugram (MG) Road. According to NHAI, The road will pass from Dhanchiri camp in Dundahera in the first 700, and then it will cross the MG road and will pass through the Aravalies to end at Faridabad road near the silver Oaks intersection. The proposed extension of Delhi’s Nelson Mandela Marg will offer an interchangeable point that will connect with GSPR at the Rangpuri bypass.
The National Highway Authority of India has a detailed study of the alignment. According to an official, this alignment has been agreed in a principle. GMDA i.e. Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority has observed that location of the roads to enter Haryana after crossing Rajokri, have several privately owned land parcels are already having a dispute with the Haryana forest department.
The GMDA also recommended for shifting of the alignment to the east along the Delhi-Haryana border as it will allow maximum use of land which is owned by the Government and will also minimize private land utilization an official said.
The official also said that phase 1 was updated according to the suggestions made by the GMDA. He clearly said that the route was realigned through Nathupur, to avoid private land parcels and maximizing the use of Government land.
The expressway will decongest Delhi Gurugram Expressway and will turn beneficial for several industries of Manesar area.
