The specially-abled people will have a priority in the allotment of land under the housing scheme. The Directorate of social welfare issued a circular to all departments/ PSUs [Public Sector Undertakings] and autonomous bodies of corporations to observe 5% reservation in the allotment of agricultural land and housing in all schemes and development programmes to women with special disabilities.
It is mandatory for both the Government and local authorities to reserve 5% quota for the specially-abled women under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016. This reservation should be notified prior to the allocation in all poverty alleviation and developmental schemes.
As per the rule, the provision shall also be made for 5% reservation in the allotment of land on concessional rate, on which the person can carry out any work like housing, shelter, setting up of occupation, business, enterprise, recreation and production centers.
The specially-abled people have already started applying for the Unique Disabilities Identification Card (UDID) along with their personal information, address, ID proof among and other details on the website http://www.swavlambancard.gov.in/
The UDID card is the document for verification of the differently-abled people for availing several benefits.
The availability of UDID card will be entertained via a centralized web application and will play a major role to combat data redundancy.
