To ensure transparency and facilitate faster competition of the projects, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has introduced a single window clearance system for multi-storey apartments across the state.

Elaborating more on the above system, M Dana Kishore, Commissioner, GHMC said, “We have introduced this system to make the real estate market more transparent in the state. At the same time, it will help developers in getting the necessary permissions within the stipulated time.”

Another GHMC official revealed that the authority is also in the process to introduce such an approval system for land parcels measuring below 500 sq yards. For this, the approval will be granted within 24 hours of time.

Devender Reddy, Chief City Planner, GHMC informed, “Furthermore, the municipal authority is also planning to introduce self-approval in case of buildings that are construed on an area measuring 200 sq yards or less. Apart from it, for any construction on plots measuring 200 sq yards or less, permission can be obtained through self-approval. Once the self-approval will be done, the authority will complete the inspection within 15 days.”

At present, the building approval process is tedious and involves a long course of action. For multi-storey apartment, an applicant has to take permissions from Fire Services, Airports Authority of India, Traffic and other departments.

On the other hand, in case of residential plots, the GHMC approves the application under Department Development and Permission Management System (DPMS). Still, an applicant needs to take permission from other departments like State forest department, urban land ceiling, irrigation department, etc.
