Soon after taking the oath, Dehradun’s new mayor Sunil Uniyal Gama hinted to revise house tax in the city. According to the Dehradun Municipal Corporation Act, it is mandatory to revise house tax every four years. Going by the rule, the newly-elected city mayor said that a decision on the same will be taken by December-end.
Sunil Uniyal Gama, the city mayor also said that we stick to the promise we made and will try to fulfill them all. The mayor also said that a decision on house tax will be taken in a board meeting and a committee will also be constituted on the same if necessary.
Vijay Kumar Jogdande, the former municipal commissioner formed a committee in August and proposed a revision of house tax with an elevation of 40 percent from 20 percent. The house tax charges are a confusion for now as the procedure of city delimitation is in progress that includes 40 new wards.
Earlier, Trivendra Singh Rawat, Chief Minister of Uttarakhand promised to wave off the house taxes in 72 newly- included villages.
In the last month, Ashish Srivastava, the Vice Chairman of Mussorie Dehradun Development Authority [MDDA] shared the information that the construction of housing units under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojna [PMAY] will be completed well in time. All these affordable homes are being built on Sahastradhara Road and Transport Nagar, under PMAY Urban.
The vice chairman made this announcement after carrying out an inspection of all dwelling units and also said that the work on Sahastradhara Road project is likely to be completed by December and the beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojna scheme in Transport Nagar will get a letter of possession in next 15 days.
