The Housing units in Pimpri Chinchwad being constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojna [PMAY] will have a proper disaster management plan. This proposal will also have standard operating procedures for the same housing units in Pimpri Chinchwad’s far-off villages.

Earlier this year, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs directed all the State Principal Secretaries to frame guidelines for the disaster management plan. In order to offer structural safety to buildings and housing complexes, a couple of features like the resistant features and environment-friendly technologies have been added by the national building code to ensure the structural safety of buildings.

The Cluster design is likely to have an innovative water supply system, drainage and rainwater harvesting system. A consultant drafting the disaster management plan will emphasis majorly on the solar energy plant. According to a Civic official, the consultant is required to submit separate costs for all the ten DMP projects falling under the jurisdiction of Pimpari Chinchwad. Also, the process to collect bids is open and firms are invited to prepare the Disaster Management Plan for housing units under PMAY.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojna [PMAY], the PCMC [Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation] has sanctioned the construction of 2,376 affordable houses at different localities including Charholi, Borhadewadi and Ravet. All these housing units have received clearance certificate from the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board and it will take in two and a half years to complete the construction work of these projects.

The tenement will be on the lease tenure of 99 years and a total of 2.5 FSI will be sanctioned for the project. The Central and State Governments will add financial support to the benefices by sanctioning Rs 1.5 lakh and 1 lakh respectively and the beneficiary is required to pay Rs 5.77 lakh in installments for the housing unit.

Earlier, the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation [PCMC] planned to build 568 residential units in Akurdi under the Pradhan Mantri Aawas Yojna [PMAY]. These housing units will be constructed dedicatedly for the people falling under the EWS [Economically weaker section].
