The Bhopal administration has recently announced that it will develop over 5000 more residential flats the Union Government’s flagship scheme ‘Smart City Mission’. These apartments will be constructed in various parts of the city.
According to an official, the administration has developed around 2000 flats to date across different localities of Bhopal. However, as part of area development, it is now decided to construct more such homes under the ambitious scheme.
Giving more information on the above, Tarun Pithode, District Collector, Bhopal said, “To vacate government houses and to provide them a new space, the city’s administration has decided to construct as many as 5,000 flats in these regions. Not only residential spaces, but several other blocks will also be redeveloped to boost commercial activities as well as setting up of schools and gardens for residents.”
He further informed that to complete all these projects in time, the administration is planning to raise 1000 crore. The Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has already floated Expression of Interest (EOI) for the same and we are happy to share that 5 leading financial institutions have shown their interest to lend the money.
Besides this, the local administration has also redeveloped many roads, drainage systems, and multi-level car parking in different areas of the city under the Smart City Mission. The development of dedicated tracks for bicycle users is underway.
Moreover, to make Bhopal smart, around 400 smart poles will also be installed in the city to provide seamless Internet access via Wi-Fi hotspots by the end of 2019, informed by the District collector.
